Hemu's most iconic sight is the sunrise view from the hill above the village: the first light gilding the wooden rooftops while mist hangs over the meadow. The viewpoint requires a morning climb (or a shuttle), but the view is worth it.
The village's traditional wooden houses, built without nails, are architectural gems. Wandering the lanes among the houses, cattle, and flower gardens feels like stepping into a fairy tale. Many houses now host visitors as guesthouses.
Horseback riding is a highlight of Hemu. Local Tuva herders lead rides along the valley, up into the surrounding meadows, and toward the border forests. It's the best way to experience the landscape as the locals do.
The Burqin River runs through the village, and the meadows around it are perfect for gentle walks. In summer, the meadows bloom with wildflowers; in autumn, the larch forests turn golden.
Learn about the Tuva people — their origins, language, and way of life. Visit a local family, try the dairy products and simple mountain cuisine, and perhaps hear traditional Tuva music.
September to October is the golden autumn season — the village's most famous time. Summer (June-August) offers green meadows and mild weather. Winter brings deep snow and a quiet, magical atmosphere, though access can be limited.
